Line characteristics:
The Schinznacher Baumschulbahn is the only Swiss steam railway with a gauge of 60cm (2 feet). The 3km long round trip passes through an area of serveral thousand species of trees and plants and traverses a 30m long viaduct on its route.
 
Regular trains:
Steam trains operate from the end of April until the beginning of October every weekend, except for bank holidays.
Saturdays from 12.55 until 17.00 and Sundays from 13.30 until 17.00, at 35 minutes intervals.
Travel time: 25 minutes; 1 intermediary stop.
Ticket prices: adults sFr. 6.-; children (aged 6 to 16) sFr. 3.-; tickets for groups of 10 persons or more an request.
 
Special steam trains:
Operate for special occasions such as weddings, company, club and society outings from end of April until beginning of October, except for Sundays and bank holidays. The may be booked at any time by previous arrangement.
Price: sFr. 500.- (Saturday) / sFr. 800.- (Friday) (max. 100 persons)
 
Diesel trains:
Operate during same season every Wednesday from 13.00 until 16.30.
Ticket prices: sFr. 4.-; children (aged 6 to 16) sFr. 2.-.
 
Train fleet:
More then 7 locomotives of various types, inclouding 1 Garratt of South African Railways (weight 60t, length 15m).
 
How to get there:
By Swiss Federal Railways: Take Zürich-Brugg-Bern line get off at Brugg, take the post bus to destination "Thalheim"; get off at bus stop "Schinznach Baumschule" or by train to Schinznach-Bad station, then walk about 30 minutes to destination.
By car: Leave A3 National Highway at Brugg exit.
